Some years ago I had the chance to play 2 original Panormo guitars, and I was captivated by the sound. I decided to make a copy, and obtained plans from an original instrument from the Friends of St Cecilia’s Museum in Edinburgh. There is a video of this guitar being played by Nick Fletcher on my Samples page. Tonally it is very different to my standard guitars – there is less depth to the basses due largely to the smaller body, but the trebles are very sweet, and the sound is very direct across all the strings. This guitar has now been sold, and I’ve since made one other Panormo on commission.
